Tramuntana Mountain Range, Wold Heritage Site
Steep cliffs alternate with beautiful sandy or pebble coves with crystal clear waters in the northwestern part of the Majorcan Tramuntana, a favorite place among locals to enjoy the sea in summer. The centuries-old villages retain the charm of yesteryear and their fields with blooming almond trees in winter and orange trees in spring stand out for their particular citrus aroma.
Discover with us the most emblematic and representative villages and landmarks of the Sierra de Tramuntana: Sóller, Valldemossa, Deià, Sa Calobra ... Places that are a faithful representation of the Mallorcan character and its rich history. The Sierra de Tramuntana has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the category of Natural Landscape. It is the international recognition for the almost perfect combination between human action and nature, carried out over centuries, which has resulted in a monumental human effort in which culture, traditions, aesthetics, spirituality and identity blend together harmoniously.
Travel back in time with the renowned, centuries-old wooden train of Sóller, in its old wagons you will be able to cross the beautiful Sierra de Alfabia and cross fields of fruit trees; that were the base of the economy of the local towns during century XIX. The Sóller area is also known for being the cradle of the modernist style on the island and is home to impressive buildings representative of the style, such as La Iglesia de Sant Bartomeu or the Banco de Sóller.
Crossing the winding roads of the Sierra de Tramuntana, you will find another of the towns anchored in time, Valldemossa. Cobbled streets, typical Mallorcan stone houses, gardens and viewpoints with spectacular views, make up this charming town that retains all the rural essence of Mallorca and is home to famous people from history such as Frédérik Chopin. A few kilometers from here, we find Deià: Its narrow streets, its authentic people, its calm and its history, make Deià one of the most charming towns on the island where one wants to get lost in its streets and indulge in its unique atmosphere. Numerous painters and writers who arrived from the 1960s on, made Deià their source of inspiration.
If you want to enjoy a day of sun and sea, we recommend you to visit some of the most impressive natural coves in the area, Sa Calobra and Torrent de Pareis: monumental mountains and cliffs surround a beautiful cove of stones and crystal clear turquoise waters, a unique environment marked for its pristine natural environment and rich biodiversity. You can also choose to visit small hidden coves that spread along the coast which are much less frequented, such as Cala Tuent or Es Port des Canonge.
With our trips all along the Serra, you will be able to travel along the route of the cornices, visiting both the best and lesser known charming coastal villages with Mallorcan country-style houses and panoramic views of the sea and the mountains, a combination that you will not be able to forget.
